Hertsmere Borough Council's waste crews have been out and about on their rounds, as collections continue throughout the festive period.
And the council is urging people to make it worth their while by recycling all they can.
Councillor Jean Heywood, environment portfolio holder, said at this time of year about 30 per cent more rubbish is produced, much of which can be recycled.

She said: "We offer a great kerbside collection system where you can rid of the majority of your waste and recycling, so please do use it.
