POSTAL voters in Hertsmere are being told to send off their ballot slips as usual – despite being given the wrong envelopes.
Hertsmere Borough Council has admitted it made an error in sending out return envelopes to 9,405 postal voters across the borough without the “window” it should have.
However, the envelope can still be returned as it includes a business reply licence number and the council’s details.
A council spokeswoman said: “We are looking into how the error happened, but the key thing is that it does not invalidate the process in any way and there will be no detrimental effect on the administration of postal votes or the election, so please do return your vote as normal.”
