HERTSMERE mayor Rosemary Gilligan officially opened a children's play garden at a Potters Bar nursery on Wednesday.
Cllr Gilligan unveiled the garden at Head Start Day Nursery in High Street.
Nursery manager Elaine Spafford said she was pleased the mayor was able to come along.
"It was very exciting because we haven't had anybody official come in to open the garden before," she said.
The nursery caters for children aged between three months and five years and, referring to the garden, Elaine said: "Even the babies will get use out of it."
She added the garden would allow staff to "bring education outside".
Cllr Gilligan said she "really enjoyed" visiting Head Start.
She said: "The garden is a lovely feature of the nursery, which is a great facility for the local community in Potters Bar."
