PENSIONERS and people receiving benefits could be eligible for free insulation to keep their homes warm during the winter.

Hertsmere Borough Council is offering to install cavity wall and loft insulation for free, under its Be Wise, Be Warm scheme, to pensioners who own their own home. Call the council on 0208 207 7506 to find out if you're eligible.

People who own their home or rent it from a private landlord and receive certain income or disability benefits could quality for a Warm Front Grant from the Government of up to £2,700.
