Hertsmere council tax freeze a boost for Potters Bar residents

Residents in Potters Bar will continue to pay the same amount to Hertsmere Council after they decided to freeze their share of the council tax.
The decision was agreed at the full council meeting on Wednesday, as was the council’s budget for 2015/16.
It means a resident in an average Band D property will pay just over £157 to the council, an average of just 43 pence per day.
Councillor John Graham, portfolio holder for finance and property, said: “The money we receive from council tax pays for the day-to-day services that are important to residents like waste management, street cleaning, housing and planning.
“It will also be used to continue to fund Police Community Support Officers in the borough and a debt advisor for the Citizens Advice Bureau.”

Hertsmere gets 11 per cent of the council tax paid and if you live in an area with a parish or town council, like South Mimms, they get 2 per cent.
Hertfordshire County Council get the biggest share at 77 per cent.
