Hertsmere Council has outlined the next steps for its Local Plan – which is expected to involve building around 9,000 homes.

Last year the local authority identified five potential ways to meet its local housing need, which included the possible expansion of Potters Bar with garden suburbs.

Since then it has been deciding which sites it will consider building on, at which point it will consult the public.

A spokeswoman for the local authority said: “The next stage with our Local Plan will be a ‘potential housing and employment locations’ engagement phase’ – which will take place between late October and early December.

“There will be a number of exhibitions held across the borough, and during that time people will be able to see options for where new homes and businesses could go.”

Residents will then find out how they can leave their feedback, she added.
