Herts Fire Service receives 124 calls following floods

The fire service has received 124 calls regarding flooding across Hertfordshire this morning.

Herts Fire Control tweeted: “Since 4am, we have dealt with 124 calls in Fire Control.

“Please help us out and only dial 999 if water is already in your property.”

At 8.21am the fire service received a call that a property in Lower Green, Tewin had been flooded.

A hose reel was used to suck the water up.

The fire service also attended a property in Travellers Lane, Hatfield, at 7.40am after flooding became dangerously close to electric.

Police have also received a lot of flood related calls.

Police were called at 10.49am to Mundells to reports of a manhole cover in the road.

A report of flooding in Station Road, Hatfield, came in at 8.43am and was passed to highways.

Police were called at 10.15am to Osborn Way, Welwyn Garden City to reports of water in the underpass next to the Howard Centre.

A call came in to reports that a tree had fallen in Pooleys Lane, Welham Green.
