HERTFORDSHIRE’S only entry in the country’s most prestigious guide for food lovers has retained its much-coveted Michelin star.

For the fourth year running, Auberge du Lac at Brocket Hall, Lemsford, features in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland, which is available to buy from today (Friday).

The restaurant is led by executive chef Phil Thompson, who was overjoyed to retain the hallowed honour.

He tweeted: “Thanks to all the boys&girls present and past for helping retain the Michelin star at the Auberge Du Lac”

And, acknowledging his fellow chefs in the guide, some getting Michelin stars for the first time, he added: “the fun begins now boys!!! #stress”

This year’s indispensible guide, featuring the country’s finest restaurants, pubs, hotels and guesthouses is, for the first time, being published before Christmas.

It’s available priced £14.99.
