POLICE chiefs have been streamlined across the county in a bid to save frontline officers.
As of April 1, only one area commander will look after Hertfordshire, replacing the current three β one representing western, eastern and central areas.
Chief superintendent Julia Wortley, who previously controlled the central area, including Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere, has been given the combined role.
Chief constable Frank Whiteley said: βThe financial situation which the constabulary faces means we must take steps now to radically review the way we operate. The public should see no significant change in the service they receive.β
