A Hertfordshire police officer was arrested over alleged misconduct in a public office.
He has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of an investigation.
Other than “misconduct in a public office”, it is not yet known what the nature of the allegations against the officer are.
Herts police confirmed the officer was “a 38-year-old man, who is a serving officer with Hertfordshire Constabulary”.
A force spokeswoman said he was “currently on police bail, following his arrest for an alleged offence of misconduct in public office”.
She added: “The officer is due to return back on bail to Stevenage
Police Station on December 2.”
She continued: “Given the serious nature of the allegations, the officer has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of an investigation by the force’s Professional Standards Department.”
