Hertfordshire County Council is giving out free copies of Bear’s Reading Adventure to all pre-school children with library membership when they come along to one of Hertfordshire Libraries’ weekday Toddler Tales.

The book, which has been produced by the BookTrust, encourages young families to complete the story following the adventures of Bookstart Bear using ten picture stickers.

The stickers will be given out at Toddler Tales each week to every child who borrows an item from the library to enjoy at home. Once they collect all the stickers, they can create and download a personalised certificate online.

Cabinet member for public health, localism and libraries, Teresa Heritage, said: “Our Toddler Tales events are a fantastic way to encourage children to engage with books from an early age. I hope that the new book will encourage even more Hertfordshire families with younger children to join the library and take part in events like Toddler Tales regularly, as well as to enjoy reading library books at home.”

For days and times of all of the weekday Toddler Tales held in Hertfordshire Libraries visit www.hertsdirect.org/libraries or download the free Hertfordshire Libraries app.
