A county council committee is set to discuss a proposal for an “energy from waste” facility.

The Community Safety and Waste Management Cabinet Panel will meet on March 4, and a cross-party group of councillors will discuss officers’ recommendation for an energy from waste facility at Rye House in Hoddesdon.

Richard Thake, cabinet member for community safety and waste management, said: “It is essential that we find a cost effective and appropriate solution to disposing of Hertfordshire’s residual waste.

“A decision will be made by cabinet and in the meantime we have interim waste arrangements in place with the option to extend these if required up to the end of March 2021.”
