Hertfordshire County Council pays over £1million on claims for highways defects

Hertfordshire County Council have paid over £1million on claims due to highways defects in just two-and-a-half years, it has emerged.

The information was obtained by Liberal Democrat leader Stephen Giles-Medhurst, and revealed there were 1228 injury claim payouts up to August 31, 2015, which cost Hertfordshire County Council £718,866.

A further £296,060 was also spent on non-injury claims, which was mainly damage to wheels and tyres.
