Damaged hedgerows

A Welwyn Garden City gardener is keen to catch the yobs ‘ruining’ hedgerows in her neighbourhood.

Hedges in Sloansway have been ‘attacked’ and ‘ruined’ by vandals.

Resident Irene Beauchamp has paid nearly £300 to fix her hedges since the incidents started in late November 2015.

She said: “I’m garden proud and hedges take years to grow. It was a beautiful hedge but it’s not anymore.

A police spokesman said: “Between late November and late December, a hedge and fence were damaged in Sloansway.

“The damage was investigated by police and officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team focused patrols in this area.

“At this stage the investigation has been finalised. If further evidence comes to light this would of course be examined.”
