THE results of the annual 'health check' of NHS organisations across the country have been announced this morning (Thursday).

The annual performance ratings take into account performance against national targets, financial management and a number of other core standards.

NHS bodies are assessed across two broad areas - quality of services and use of resources.

The East and North Herts NHS Trust, which runs the QE2, Lister and Hertford County hospitals, was rated 'fair' in both categories.

East and North Herts PCT, which oversees healthcare in this area, also received 'fair' scores.

However, the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust was branded 'weak' in both categories.

The ratings cover the period April 2007 to March 2008.
