Hatfield woman, 104, says eating healthily is the trick to a long life
A Hatfield woman who is turning 104 today says the trick to living a long life is simply by eating healthily and doing exercise.
Gladys Bullen, of The Ride, moved in with her daughter Celia Kennett, three years ago and is celebrating her 104th birthday today surrounded by friends and family.
Gladys enjoys going to Friendship House in Hatfield once a week for lunch and to get her hair done.
Celia said: “Whenever somebody asks my mum ‘what advice would you give to live a long life?’ she usually says it’s down to healthy eating and exercise.
“Although she is deaf now she is still in good health, has great banter and always perks up when someone comes to visit her.”
When Gladys was younger she loved to cycle, walk, swim and dance with her late husband who she married in 1938.
Gladys has two children Celia, 71, and Michael Bullen, 78, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Celia added: “We all wish her happy birthday and hope she has a lovely day and weekend.”
