Former Armed Forces personnel have shared with the Welwyn Hatfield Times their tales of serving their country.

The veterans get together for a breakfast club on the first Sunday of each month at 10am in the new Harpsfield Hall, Wetherspoons pub in Hatfield’s Parkhouse Court.

Veteran, Elaine Forman, 48, of Hatfield Garden Village, said: “The forces are like a big family, you come out of it and you get on with everyone.

“It [the breakfast club] is light-hearted and a good laugh. The atmosphere is very laid back.

“It’s nice being around like-minded people.”

Veteran David Collins, 47, of Briars Wood, said: “The breakfast club is good because everyone understands your banter and experiences.

“The amount of different age groups that turn up is great. Everyone can interact with each other.”

Any former or current servicemen and women are welcome to turn up for the breakfast.

Over the coming days the Welwyn Hatfield Times will feature the stories of:
