Hatfield residents have voiced concerns about rats scurrying around the town.

Pictures of the rodents surfaced on social media this morning – sparking dozens of comments revealing similar sightings.

Several residents said the core of the problem was people dropping food waste, which a couple claimed was turning the town into “Ratfield”.

Some also called for the council to do more to combat the issue.

Davina Walton commented: “I think if you can’t even go into a shop without one running over your foot there is a major problem.

“The odd one here and there day-to-day is expected.

“But 11 in less than a three-metre area is more than a problem.

“They are running in the drains near the skate park. It seems I can never go to the town now without seeing at least three.”

More to follow.
