Two lanes closed after A1(M) crash in Hatfield Tunnel

Two lanes of the A1(M) are closed southbound after a four-vehicle crash in the Hatfield Tunnel this morning.

Highways England tweeted at 7.38am to say there has been a collision on the southbound stretch of the motorway in the Hatfield Tunnel – between Junction 4 for Hatfield and Junction 3 for St Albans.

Herts police were called at 7.22am about the collision, which involved two cars, a van and a cement mixer.

Recovery is being arranged for all vehicles, with two out of three lanes closed.

A spokeswoman for Herts police said “slight injuries” were reported.

Hertfordshire Highways has tweeted to say delays are building around the Hertford Road/Mount Pleasant roundabout for the A1(M) at Junction 4.

UPDATE 7.59am: Highways England is reporting that now only one lane of three is closed.
