A SUPERMARKET had to turn customers away this morning after a new computer system shut down the tills.
Tesco, on Great North Road, Hatfield, was forced to close this morning because staff could not operate the cash registers following a software upgrade.
A spokeswoman for Tesco confirmed that the problem had affected a number of stores across the country, not just Hatfield.
"Unfortunately, it's just one of those glitches that happen from time to time," she said. "It was only temporary, affecting a handful of stores, and any stores not already re-opened will be re-opened imminently."
A staff member at the Hatfield Tesco confirmed the store was now fully open again.
