Members of the public have described how they heard a “loud bang” as a car crashed at a petrol station in Hatfield.
Shoppers were left startled after a grey car smashed into part of the Tesco petrol station at Oldings Corner in Hatfield yesterday evening.
Mackenzie Rawson told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “I didn’t see it happen but we had got there just after.
“You could see the car had reversed straight into the pump lines.
“You can see where they had actually pulled parts out of the ground.
“There was only damage to back of the car.
“It didn’t look like anyone was hurt.”
Casey Kennelly said: “I just heard a big bang and walked over.
“The driver was a old man who walked away unharmed.”
One motorist told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “I was paying for petrol when I heard a crash, bang, wallop.
“The man looked as though he was in his eighties.”
