A PUBLIC inquiry into plans to demolish nine houses in Hatfield and replace them with 401 student flats has been delayed, as the planning inspector is ill.

Hatfield Student Accommodation Ltd’s proposals for College Lane have been rejected by borough councillors twice.

The bedrooms, housed in five colourful blocks, each five storeys high, would have had just TWELVE parking spaces – 10 for disabled students and two for visitors.

The appeal hearing should have started this morning (Tuesday) but is now scheduled to start on Thursday instead, at the council chamber in Campus West, Welwyn Garden City.
