A HATFIELD sportsman who died last month at the age of just 31 will be remembered at a special cricket match.

The event, at Ascots Lane, near the QE2 Hospital in Welwyn Garden City, will see funds raised for the Isabel Hospice in memory of Ryan Moran.

He died at the hospice on July 1 following a brave battle with cancer.

The cricket match will be held on Sunday, September 22, by Hatfield & Crusaders Cricket Club, who Ryan had played for since 1996.

Club secretary Bob Connor said: “He faced this illness with the same dignity and courage that he approached everything in life.

“He was one of the most talented cricketers and sportsmen we have seen and will be missed tremendously.

“He was also a semi-professional footballer playing his last games for Chesham United.”

The event will start at noon.
