PLANS to develop an overgrown lot into Hatfield’s home for sport remain in limbo.

An application to transform Angerland Common into a multi-use sports centre were lodged on June 17, but no date has yet been set for a decision by Welwyn Hatfield Council.

The University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield Queen Elizabeth Rugby Club and Hatfield Town Football Club have created the Hatfield Sports Association, to run the site.

If the plans are approved there will be two football pitches, a rugby pitch, two youth pitches and a clubhouse.

Chris Maloney, chairman of Hatfield Town Football Club, was not discouraged by the delay.

He told the WHT: “It is one of these things that has to go through the process and it takes as long as it takes.

“We have to be patient.”
