Police have issued a warning after a purse theft at Tesco in Hatfield


Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman had her purse stolen from her car in Hatfield.

The incident happened on Monday, October 26, at around 1pm in the car park at Tesco, Oldings Corner.

The woman, 67, got into her blue VW Polo and was approached by a man who asked her to get out of the vehicle to help with some directions.

Whilst this man distracted the victim with a large map another offender has opened the passenger door to her car and taken her purse from her bag.

The first suspect is described as a white male, stocky build, 6ft tall, short brown hair and spoke with an eastern European accent.

There is no description of the second suspect.

PC Christopher Poxon is investigating and said: “The car par would have been busy at this time and I am sure someone will have seen these people or may have been approached in similar circumstances. If you have any information which could assist the investigation please contact me.”
