Hatfield set for a Heatwave

A HEATWAVE is coming to Hatfield later this week – a month later than originally planned.
Heatwave, a very special edition of teenage monthly club night Grounded for 12 to 17-year-olds, will be held at the University of Hertfordshire’s Forum entertainment complex on Friday.
Originally scheduled for August 10, the event had to be postponed at the very last minute last month due to the danger of rioting and civil unrest sweeping the country.
Andrew Burton, director of organisers RARE Productions, hopes Heatwave will be a memorable evening for young people.
He said: “We have worked very closely with the local youth council and the police to ensure that we are providing a safe environment which is why we had no option than to cancel the originally planned date.
“There will, of course, be no alcohol available anywhere on site, and, as well as the Forum’s own security staff, we will have our own licensed chaperones in attendance.”
The rearranged music event will run with all the originally planned performers.
It will be the biggest and most ambitious Grounded night yet promoted by RARE Productions Ltd and the organisers hope Heatwave will become an annual event.
Headline act in the main room at the College Lane venue will be Essex-based rapper Fugative, who will be performing his hit song Bad Girl as well as other tracks.
Supporting him will be Sheffield-based rap-cum-R&B combo One Way, Bionic and local girl Samantha Grint. Completing the line-up will be singer/guitarist Daisy Lewis.
As well as the performers on stage in the auditorium, in the upper bar there will be face painting, bouncy boxing, a photo booth and a bungee run.
There will also be a karaoke recording studio where young people can record themselves onto a CD, which will be available to take away on the night.
To complete the evening’s activities, there will be a huge foam party.
The fun starts at 6.30pm and the evening ends at 11pm.
Tickets are only £12, which includes free soft drinks all night, and can be obtained from the Forum website at www.forumhertfordshire. co.uk - click on link above – or by phoning the box office on 01707 285000. They are also available at the door on the night.
