Rugby enthusiasts in Hatfield have slammed politicians for frustrating a long term plan to refurbish their playing base.

A town council meeting voted down a proposal to grant a 21-year lease to Hatfield Queen Elizabeth Rugby Football Club for Roe Hill Hall, where it has played for many years.

The club says the decision may force it out of the town, but the authority insists it has the best plan for the hall’s future.
