A bid to turn a four-storey office block in Hatfield into homes would ease traffic in the area, developers have claimed.

An application to convert Colonial House, in Great North Road into up to seven flats has been lodged with Welwyn Hatfield Council.

The outside of the 1960s building would not be altered if the plans are approved, Hoddesdon-based applicant St Cross Chambers Management Ltd has said.

Planning documents state: “This is likely to reduce congestion on Bull Stag Green, to the benefit of local residents and those who walk along the road following the use of the adjacent footbridge.”
