A man who was wanted in connection with the murder of traveller Thomas Ward in Stevenage has been arrested in Denmark.

John Boy Ward, 33, whose last known address was Clarkson Court in Hatfield, was held by Danish police last night (Thursday) on a European Arrest Warrant, near Copenhagen.

He is suspected of conspiracy to commit murder, following inquiries by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit and the National Crime Agency.

Thomas Ward, 21, was shot as he came out of his caravan in Dyes Lane on April 23, last year.

His wife and five day old child were inside at the time.

Thomas then ran from the caravan before being found by his family unconscious in undergrowth nearby.

He later died in hospital.

Jolene Josie Ward, 21, was arrested and charged with assisting an offender last month, and has been remanded in custody ahead of a preliminary hearing at Luton Crown Court on February 11.
