A runner from Hatfield is acting as 'UK Ambassador' for the Helsinki half marathon in his efforts to raise money for a cancer charity.
The organisers of the marathon have selected Mark Green, 46, to blog about and promote the marathon as he trains for the big day in Finland on June 9.
Mark got the running bug in 2006 and entered the London Marathon after a particularly difficult time.
“Running has helped get me through dark periods in my life,” he said.
“I’m excited about the upcoming challenge,” he added, with a goal of finishing within one hour and 40 minutes.
“It’s helped me focus both physically and mentally.”
He will be running alongside his partner Nicky Blay, and hopes to raise £700 for the charity she works for, Teens Unite Fighting Cancer.
Now living in Hoddesdon, Mark is a “Hatfield man born and bred” and a former Onslow St Audrey’s pupil.
