A Hatfield pensioner has died in hospital after he was injured in a road smash in the town last week.

Anthony Coppack, 71, was driving his black Audi TT when it was involved in a collision with a black Seat Ibiza in Roehyde Way just after 10am on Wednesday, May 24, and was taken to hospital.

He was initially described as “critical but stable”, but died yesterday.

Sergeant Douglas Fishwick said: “We are continuing to work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to contact police via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 191 of May 24.
