An annual Christmas market at Hatfield House takes place on Saturday, November 12.

It is at its usual setting of the estate’s riding school from 10.30am to 4pm.

Admission is £2 with accompanied children admitted free.

It is organised by Welwyn Hatfield’s Conservatives. Half the proceeds are donated to Welwyn Garden City based-Isabel Hospice which provides specialist end-of-life care, free of charge, to the people of eastern Hertfordshire.

The joint venture has raised more than £100,000 over the past three decades.

“This popular Christmas market has become a firm fixture in the calendar running for over 30 years,” said a spoksesman. “Every year gets bigger and better and this year promises to be no exception.

“It’s a great opportunity to buy some early Christmas presents and to bag some great bargains. There’s something for everyone with stalls offering things such as Christmas puddings, health and beauty products, handmade jewellery, clothes and much more.”

Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps said: “This fantastic tradition not only means people can get ahead on their Christmas shopping but also contribute to a fantastic local cause.

“It would be great to donate an even bigger cheque to Isabel Hospice this year so I urge everyone to come down and pick up some great deals.”
