Hatfield home seriously damaged in 'deliberate' attack

Neighbours who witnessed a terrifying attack that seriously damaged a Hatfield home are convinced it was deliberately targeted.
Plumber Bashar Edais and his wife were woken at 1am by the sound of a van repeatedly crashing into the neighbouring terraced house in Drakes Way.
Not only was the front porch smashed, with a large vertical crack in the front wall, but Mr Edais’s own van was badly damaged by four or five men who escaped in a four-by-four.
Mr Edais, 36, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “My wife was woken by screaming. They were screaming and shouting - ‘effing this’ and ‘effing that’. They reversed and did it again.
“We were terrified, scared, and agonised.”
His neighbours, a married couple with six children, were not in the house.
Mr Edais said: “My neighbour is a friend, but I don’t know what has gone on between him and these people.”
He thinks the attackers smashed up his vehicle believing it belonged to his neighbour, who owns a very similar van.
This morning police were carrying out a forensic investigation at the scene.
Mr Edais, who thinks his van will cost about £2,500 to repair, can only keep his appointments by cramming his tools into his car, as his insurance company has refused to replace it.
