AN EVACUATION centre has been set up for residents affected by this morning’s explosion in a block of flats in Hatfield.
The Jim McDonald Centre has become a makeshift facility for people evacuated from the vicinity of Roe Green Lane, where there was a suspected gas blast in a ground-floor flat.
A borough council spokesman said: “Welwyn Hatfield Council has set up an evacuation centre at Jim McDonald Centre in High View following a reported gas explosion at Roe Green Lane, Hatfield, and the evacuation of residents in the area by the police.
“The council has sent one of its community buses to transport people to the centre.”
