A FIRE chief has received a top award after founding a group for Polish migrants in Times Territory.
Peter Hill, group commander for community safety at Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, won first place at the East of England Regional Council Equality Awards, for his work with the Welwyn Hatfield Polish Forum.
The forum was set up in September 2008 when Peter, who at the time was station commander for Hatfield Fire Station, agreed to let members of the Polish community use the building for meetings and drop-in sessions.
On receiving his award, Peter said: "I am over the moon to have been recognised for a project which I've put my heart and soul in to."
