The University of Hertfordshire’s student accommodation came second in the county council’s Building Futures Awards.

The event recognises sustainable developments – projects that do not impact on natural resources – based in Hertfordshire, and the Hatfield accommodation off College Lane finished second out of 48 entrants.

The development was designed by Willmore Iles Architects, and comprises 2,511 rooms in 21 buildings, as well as a variety of cluster flats, townhouses, studios and conference rooms.
