A COUPLE from Hatfield celebrated 60 years of married life with a weekend away – and a win at the bingo.

Vivian and Christina Woodward, from Hare Lane, toasted their diamond wedding anniversary on September 30, and spent the weekend with family on a trip to Kent.

Vivian, 83, put his happy marriage to Christina down to “a bit of give and take”.

“We’re very happy and very lucky,” he said. “It’s been a wonderful 60 years.”

There was even more to celebrate for Christina, 80, after she won 140 at bingo.

“It was a good old fashioned family get together,” she said.

The couple met at a dance in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1948, after Vivian came out of the RAF following World War Two. They married in 1950, and moved to Hatfield 45 years ago.

Vivian worked as company director of A1 Transport, based in central London, until taking early retirement and travelling the world with Christina, especially to America.

They have four children, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
