A TOWN centre is due to get spruced up today.

The spring clean in Hatfield town centre is being organised by Welwyn Hatfield Council.

Businesses and residents are being asked to join in and take pride in their town.

Volunteers from the university and criminals serving their community service will join Serco.

At the first event, today (Wednesday), the focus will be on White Lion Square and the mayor will also been in attendance.

Best One News in Market Place has committed �40,000 to an internal re-fit which will also brighten up its shop front.

Town centre co-ordinator Kellie Bradley said: “A lot has been done over the past year and a half to rejuvenate the town centre.

“The council has opened new toilets, erected new benches and CCTV, and undertaken extensive landscaping.”

A celebration event will take place in the town centre the day after St George’s day, on Saturday, April 24.
