A Hatfield church celebrated 30 years of ministry with a special service and lunch.

The Evangelical Baptist Church’s event – based around the theme ‘God is faithful’ – was enjoyed by friends of the congregation, along with one of the founding pastors Ken Houghten.

Services began in early 1987, initially meeting in members’ homes, until later that year when they took place at Birchwood Methodist Church.

The congregation then moved to Cavendish Hall in Bishops Rise, before again relocating in 2000 to its current meeting place in Oxlease House, Travellers Lane.

Although the church does not have its own premises, Pastor Ken thanked the congregation for its recent contribution to help the Evangelical Church at Kirby-le-Soken raise £125,000 to purchase its own building.

Both congregations are members of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).
