New playgroup in Hatfield

A Hatfield church and a mother have started their own playgroup to give back to the community.

Mother-of-two Laura Jones, 33, and the King’s Community Church teamed up to create the playgroup after the church’s playgroup got too big.

The Harrier’s Assembly Hall in Hilltop has offered to let the playgroup take space every Thursday morning, 10am until 11.30am, for children up to the age of five.

Laura added: “Venues were charging us quite a bit for an hour, but Diana from The Harrier has rented it out to us for basically nothing.

“The church donated first aid kits and basic needs for starting a playgroup. They have always wanted to do it for the local area.

“Thank you to Diana for her support.”

David Rigby, senior pastor, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for KCC to contribute to the life of the community.”

The session costs £1 per family and all profits made are used to purchase toys and the up-keep of the playgroup.

If anyone has any toy donations for the playgroup they can contact King’s Community Church at kcchatfield@hotmail.co.uk
