Christmas festivities got underway in Hatfield at the weekend as children enjoyed live entertainment, Santa’s grotto and a giant snow globe.

Kennelwood Lane car park and Market Place were transformed into a magical Love Hatfield at Christmas event on Saturday.
There were stalls selling Christmas gifts, a giant snow globe, a fun fair, and Santa in his grotto ready to reward well-behaved children.
The theme of the event was Aladdin, which is this year’s pantomime at Campus West.
Two of its stars, Widow Twankey and Wishee Washee, also took to the stage, as did ICONIC, a local Performing Arts School.

Councillor Bernard Sarson said of the event: “Although there wasn’t the usual Christmas lights switch-on in Hatfield this year, the Love Hatfield at Christmas event had so much to entertain the crowds.
“The fantastic performances on the stage provided a lively backdrop to the Christmassy stalls that visitors browsed around and everyone was getting into the Christmas spirit.
“Santa in his grotto giving out presents was definitely the icing on the proverbial Christmas cake for many of the children!”
