Councillors have allowed the completion of work to protect Hatfield homes from subsidence after it ran into difficulties.
Monday’s full borough council meeting agreed to increase the budget for work on historic chalk mines, which started near Chantry Lane in January, by £3 million, after officers reported complications.
The authority says the cost of the work will be met entirely by the Homes and Community Agency, but it needs to adjust its budget to reflect the extra work.
The additional work is likely to take 12 weeks.
