Cat owners in Hatfield are on high alert amid concerns that someone may deliberately be trying to poison pets.

Yesterday (Sunday, November 25), police were called just after 11am to reports of a potential cat poisoning case.

Pet owners have also taken to social media to vent their anger at the possibility that someone may be killing cats in the Hazel Grove area.

A Herts Police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “On Sunday, we were called by a man from Hazel Grove in Hatfield reporting that his cat had died and that he believed it had been poisoned.

“A neighbour had found the cat under a car, but there were no signs that it had been hit by the car.

“The caller has been advised to have a post-mortem examination carried out on the cat to establish the cause of its death.

“Officers are due to meet with the caller today.

“The caller provided information that there has been two other incidents where cats have died/gone missing.

“We’re hoping to get more details today.”
