Staff at a water company’s call centre in Hatfield will be answering phones to help raise money for Children in Need.
On Friday, November 14, 120 volunteers from Affinity Water will be giving up their evening to take cash donations and pledges from the public, from 6.30pm until after midnight.
Each year, BBC Children in Need uses contact centres of organisations and businesses from around the country to boost the number of lines available for public donations.
Ian Hankin, Affinity Water’s resource and planning manager, who organises the company’s operation on the night, said: “Affinity Water is proud that for the 11th year we have been asked by BBC Children in Need to provide a call centre on event night.
“We are now one of their longest serving call centres. Knowing we are one of only 60 of these on the night working for Children In Need and the only water company taking part makes it a rather special evening for us.”
During the day, team members will be dressing up and organising cake sales, quizzes and raffles to boost the donations.
Last year, the centre answered around 2,325 calls and collected just over £70,800.
