Hatfield bicycle thief faces court

A Hatfield bicycle thief has been given a community order.

Samyel Solmaz admitted stealing four bicycles and two mobile phones in Hatfield when he appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on November 20.

He stole a £50 bike and another of unknown value on September 13.

On July 17 and July 20, he stole two more bikes.

In one case, the police have been unable to trace the owner of the stolen bike.

On October 11, he stole an iPhone 8 worth £850 from someone in Hatfield.

He also stole a Samsung J3 worth £150 from another person in Hatfield on April 19.

Solmaz, of The Minims in Hatfield, must pay compensation of £500.

The 30-year-old must also take part in an alcohol dependency programme for six months and take part in an activity as required by the responsible officer for up to 20 days.
