EVER thought about trying to reduce your carbon footprint?

A handy booklet has been produced crammed with tips to help you do just that, whether you're at home, work or travelling around.

The advice includes trying not to use your car for short trips, not leaving appliances on standby, and not overfilling the kettle when making a cuppa.

The booklet, 101 Tips for Reducing your Carbon Footprint, has been issued by Welwyn Hatfield's Environmental Forum, part of the Welwyn Hatfield Alliance.

Forum secretary David Irving said: "These 101 tips are mostly simple changes in lifestyle that can often save you money as well as the planet.

"We hope this booklet will make people think twice before they drive to local shops rather than walk, or leave the TV on standby rather than switch it off at the mains.

"The future is in our hands - small, individual changes really can make a difference."

For a copy of the booklet contact the forum on alliance@welhat.gov.uk or call 01707 357240.
