MORE than half of children being carried in vehicles in Hatfield were not adequately safe and secure, a spotcheck in Hatfield found.
A total of 65 vehicles were stopped by police and county council road safety officers in Cavendish Way on Friday morning.
In 34 of those, children were incorrectly restrained – either not in proper child seats, booster seats or were not wearing the correct seatbelt.
Officers also seized a Renault Scenic after the driver, who had a child in the back seat, was found to only be holding a provisional licence and was not supervised or displaying L plates.
She was also fined 60 and given three points on her driving licence.
