MASKED gunmen stormed a Hatfield convenience store and escaped with around 18,000 in cash and the CCTV footage of their crime.

The raid took place at the One Stop in High View, Hatfield, when two men dressed in black and wearing balaclavas walked into the store shortly after it opened.

They threatened staff with both a gun and a knife, before going into the store room at the back of the shop and stealing thousands of pounds in cash.

The thieves also took CCTV footage of themselves entering the store, at about 8am on Sunday, June 5, before leaving through the staff entrance at the back.

This week, one worker told the WHT the men came through the front entrance, wearing masks.

He said one was carrying a gun, the other a knife.

They made their way to the staff office at the back of the shop, and stole what he believed to be around 18,000 as well as the CCTV footage.

A One Stop spokesman said: “We can confirm an incident took place at our store. Thankfully no customers or staff were harmed. We are helping the police with their enquiries.”

Police have issued descriptions of the two suspects.

Both are described as Asian and of medium build. Both were dressed in black, although one was wearing an orange t-shirt underneath a black sweatshirt.

One man is described as aged between 28 and 35 years old, and around 5ft 6in tall.
