Guide to Welwyn Hatfield Remembrance Parades and Services

Fallen servicemen and women who paid the ultimate price in conflicts across the globe will be remembered on Sunday, November 8.
Here’s a guide to Remembrance Day services taking place across Welwyn Hatfield, Potters Bar and surrounding villages in the area.
Welwyn Garden City -All services start at approximately 10.50am.
Howardgate Memorial - parade from Campus roundabout to Memorial and back.
Hatfield Hyde Memorial, Hollybush Lane, parade from St Mary Magdalene’s Church.
Hatfield - Hatfield Memorial - Remembrance Sunday will be held at the War Memorial Gardens, Great North Road, starting at 10.50am. A service at St. Etheldreda’s Church will follow. For the first time pipes and drums will accompany the Royal British Legion and cadets as they parade down to the war memorial. Everyone is welcome.
The Act of Remembrance has been arranged by Hatfield Town Council.
Potters Bar - In advance of the Act of Remembrance, a service will be held at St Mary’s Church, The Walk, at 10.30am.
This will be followed by a commemoration service at the Potters Bar War Memorial, Mutton Lane, at 10.35am.
South Mimms -A Remembrance Day service will be held at the South Mimms War Memorial, St Albans Road, at 10.45am.
The White Hart will be open at 10am for tea and coffee. The actual service will begin at 10.45am, with two minutes silence at 11am. Wreaths will be laid by the British Legion, retired servicemen, public services, youth services and the council will be represented by Councillor Thomas Ash.
This will be followed by a service in St Giles Church, Hamilton Close, for those who wish to attend.
Welwyn - Councillors from County, Borough and Parish, will assemble at the Parish Rooms, Lockley Drive at 10.30am to collect wreaths. They will be joined by representatives of the Royal British Legion, Fire service, Police service, WRVS and Round Table to join a parade of scouts and brownies to march to the War Memorial in Church Street at 10.50am. Church Street will be closed by the police for the duration of the service.
Digswell - A service of Remembrance will be held at 11am at the Digswell Village Church.
There will be a small open-air Remembrance Sunday commemoration at the Harmer Green War Memorial at 12.30pm.
This war memorial is on Harmer Green, a grassy area facing the north end of New Road, Digswell.
Kimpton - A parade of parish councillors, members of the Royal British Legion and various youth services will being at 10.15am in Kimpton Hall. It will be followed by a service at the War Memorial at 10.40 am, with a Memorial Service in the church of St Peter and St Paul, beginning at 10.55am.
