A ROAD in Hatfield has been cordoned off by police after a hand grenade was unearthed by a resident.
Bomb disposal experts were alerted after the device, believed to date to World War Two, was found at 10.40am today (Tuesday) in The Paddock.
A police spokeswoman said: "A resident from The Paddock in Hatfield contacted police at 10.40am this morning after moving, what is believed to be a World War Two hand grenade.
"Bomb disposal experts have been informed.

"In the meantime, as a precautionary measure, police have shut the Lemsford Road entry road and immediate neighbours have been advised to stay away from their windows and out of the street.
